Our Philosophy

Goddess In Me Honours the Goddess in You.

If you arrived at Sage Bohème, you might have come searching for something simple: a breathable dress made from pure natural fibres, the ease of relaxed movement, or the gentle touch of traditional Indian hand-block printing against sensitive skin.
Living in Melbourne with very sensitive skin, allergies, and reactive skin taught me how deeply the clothes we wear affect our daily peace. Sourcing natural textiles and working alongside artisan families in India showed me how fashion can be slow, conscious, and grounded in ancestral care.
Yet beneath the seams and silhouettes, Sage Bohème was born from an even deeper truth.
For more than 15 years, my life’s work has been rooted in the community services sector, advocating for women’s human rights, dignity, and autonomy. Having also walked through the fire of surviving domestic violence, I came to see how deeply patriarchal expectations shape not only our culture, but the quiet conversations we have with our own reflections.
We live in a culture that has long encouraged women to see their bodies from the outside in, staged for external validation, male approval, and social compliance. All too often, when conversations turn to women’s safety, an unfair burden of blame is placed on our clothing, our femininity, and our bodies.
I reject that narrative entirely.
A woman is not an object. She is a sovereign human being.

Her body belongs to her. Her beauty belongs to her. Her voice belongs to her. And abuse is never her fault, not because of what she wears, how she looks, or how she moves through the world. Responsibility belongs solely to those who choose to cause harm.
From this conviction comes The Sage Bohème Philosophy. These seven chapters are not rules to follow; they are gentle invitations to soften vigilance, question expectations, and come home to your body.

Chapter 01: Softness Without Weakness

We live in a culture that often mistakes hardness for strength and guards vulnerability with tension. We are taught that softness makes us defenseless. At Sage Bohème, we believe softness is an act of deep sovereignty. Choosing fluid fabrics, unconstricted silhouettes, and a nervous system at ease is not surrender; it is the quiet confidence that true power does not need to be rigid to endure.

Chapter 02: Power Without Performance

From childhood, women are schooled in the male gaze: monitoring our appearance from the outside in and turning dressing into an exhausting performance for approval. True power does not perform. When we strip away the invisible spectator, our clothing stops being a costume and becomes an authentic sanctuary of personal comfort, chosen purely for how it feels.

Chapter 03: Modesty Without Shame

Patriarchal and religious standards have too often weaponised modesty to shame women's bodies, framing female flesh as inherently dangerous or sinful. We reclaim modesty as an autonomous, sacred choice. Covering your body or revealing your skin should come from personal joy and boundary-setting, never from fear, guilt, or appeasing someone else's gaze.

Chapter 04: Beauty Without Exploitation

Throughout history, ancient matriarchal traditions revered feminine creation, communal care, and lifelong wisdom over disposable vanity. We honour that heritage through the time-honoured art of Indian hand-block printing. By supporting slow fashion and artisan livelihoods, we celebrate garments that carry human dignity rather than the cost of industrial exploitation.

Chapter 05: Conscious Living Without Perfection

Living with chronic skin conditions and sensory sensitivities teaches you to listen to your body's subtle cues. We reject the modern demand for flawless perfection, whether in beauty routines, wellness diets, or polished lifestyle imagery. Conscious living is gentle; it is about choosing pure, breathable natural fibres that calm the nervous system and honouring the skin you are in today.

Chapter 06: Self-Expression Without Conformity

The true spirit of the Bohème is not a seasonal trend or an aesthetic formula; it is the courage to live outside conventional boundaries. It means dressing to reflect your inner landscape rather than conforming to rigid societal expectations of what is "flattering" or palatable. Your individuality is your birthright.

Chapter 07: The Goddess In Me Honours the Goddess Within You

Patriarchy thrives by setting women against each other in silent competition for approval and validation. We choose a different blueprint: collective sisterhood. When I honour the goddess within myself- my intuition, boundaries, and worth, I naturally hold space for the sovereign goddess within you. You do not need to become less of yourself to belong here; you get to define who you are.

A woman belongs to herself.
With love & gratitude,
